n this post i will reflecting on my corporate film for OakDale School and the process of how we made this corporate film for this school step by step and reflect on how things could of improved or how things could of been better.
When we started this unit we were assigned teams i was assigned a team with two others in this group we had a team leader who was in charge of me and the other member of my team. We then were assigned roles to do on our team blog i was assigned mainly research and development for ideas that we could use for our corporate film. Later we had meetings to come to an agreement on how we would film this and what we would use as well as taking notes and feedback from other members of the group we all had similar ideas and agreed on our final target. We then agreed on departments we were best at i was assigned with taking photos and recording shots in this film and was sub editor to the main editor.
We then booked days to film at the school where we met the staff who had previously sent us a brief to work from after our meeting we then went on to film in the school getting our shots, audio and interviews. We had a list of children who could be filmed and those who couldn't those who couldn't were removed or taken out of shot.
The editor was our team leader and in charge of making the film and finally the other member was in charge of audio and interviews in this film. Over the course of the coming weeks the editor was focused on finishing this film as i was helping her with this film through a lot of the steps giving feed back and how we can change it to fit the brief we were assigned.
At the time when we were chosen as a team i was slightly unsure of how we would react as i had never worked with either members of my team before however i am glad to say that all of us worked well together and all worked hard on what we were assigned to do and all worked well together on shooting days. However there were times me and my team felt under pressure due to our client consistently changing there mind again and again it was hard for us to determine a final product for us to make due to the constant changes.
The whole experience was different to what i am use to doing what was good about it was the fact i got to come out of my comfort zone and mix with people who had different skills to mine and how we could all use our strengths to help benefit each other and help each other get a good grade from what we could put on the table. It was also a chance to learn from the others and to be able to produce something with other people in which all put our time and effort into it. However not all was good due to the lack of equipment we were provided after most of it was gone for other shoots and having faulty or none working equipment with either no power or half broken tripods this caused much dispute between the three of us and the other teams who had previously checked out the equipment leaving my team to struggle. However despite what was thrown at us we were able to over come and created a great piece of work together.
As i previously mentioned with our lack of equipment i could sense that my team leader was frustrated with the result of our lack of supplies. However after much talk and conference with our disputer we were able to obtain some more tech and then me and the team leader went back to film more footage as we were behind as our equipment was faulty or didn't have any memory for us to use we were both agitated by the lack of equipment and the consistency of how people were taken unneeded amount of equipment or not charging what we needed.
In conclusion the team and i produced a good piece of work despite our mishap with the lack of equipment that we were provided with and how we were left with the faulty equipment to work with. However we all worked well together and all used our strengths to make a good corporate movie as well get to know one another much more and it will help us in the future open up more if we were placed in the team once again.
If i was able to go back and do this again the only thing i would change is getting the equipment much early and having back ups just incase to save our progress also coming to firm and contracted agreement with out client so we didn't go through so many unnecessary changes and giving us less time to make the product for the school it was changes that were not needed and were often reverted back to the original as we had it before.

What is Synergy?
In this blog post i will be talking about Synergy what it is and how it works in the industry with an example of music video aimed to raise money for charity.

"No one can achieve success alone."
Ifeanyi Enoch Onuoha. 2007. Quotes About Synergy. [ONLINE] Available at: http://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/5405908.Ifeanyi_Enoch_Onuoha. [Accessed 16 March 15].
This quotes states that you need multiple people to achieve a successful business venture we can take this quote and put this into media synergy. In this instance this would mean two partners or multiple partners working together to both get something out of deal. In the case of music videos an artist would want to get more popular where as a clothing line or company with a product would use this artist as a way to push there product with the talent they have this can be a form of product placement but in most cases the products are put through as subliminal messages promoting the product to consumers allowing both patenters to achieve there goal.
Below is an example of synergy in music videos.
In this video the talent of artists Katy B & Mark Ronson are here to promote the 2012 London Olympics but they have a partner or multiple patenters in this case the main one being Coke, You can see the synergy in this video as the athletes in this video are seen wearing mainly red outfits which corresponds with the Coke emblem and the colours of that brand. Furthermore throughout the video we see multiple shots of Katy B singing on stage and you see athletes in sports that are less popular being brought to light this is to promote the vision of diversity and the importance of doing any sport anywhere in the world much like the song.
Mark is also seen wearing red and white in the video which are the colours of the Coke brand. On the other hand Katy B being from London as well as most of the athletes this helps push the message of the olympics further. Furthermore with this being a sporting event the colours advertise the popular sporting brands as well which shows the multiple patenters in this video and how they all benefit from this video as Coke advertise there brand as well as the sporting lines and this helps push Katy B and Mark Ronson's popularity rise as this is the biggest sporting event ever and is the most viewed by the public so this will greatly increase there fan base as well as there image and this could also help push the image they are selling to the audience themselves so in total there are around five or six partners all benefiting from this these being Coke, the artist, record company, sporting line, clothing brands and the olympics viewings. This creates great synergy as multiple forms of businesses are working together to promote an amazing event and also benefiting from it.

Crime Analysis
The killing season 3 episode 8 Reckoning
In this blog post i will be analysing a crime drama and looking at four main points in how these four points work well together to create a successful working crime drama.
First i will be looking at the two main characters of the show which play the detectives both of these characters have a closed relationship meaning strictly work based in the sense of being a detective however the female of the partners are a more gentle character when talking to witnesses in the show as she is seen as a friendly face or a mother figure in the show. However the male character is a more harsh and brutal character as you see in this specific episode when questioning a witness he does not have a barrier what i mean by this is that with the victim being in the emotional state she is in he often made harsh remarks to the victim mainly slightly humours but also with a sarcastic tone.
Later see that the male character is also seen as an addict meaning he has a weakness showing the audience that he is weaker then the female and how he is open about his issues. The female comes in to comfort him and take on all the weight of there relationship while still containing her investigation she is also seen as the smarter one of the two as she goes to great depths to get answers and does not stop digging until she finds answers but even then she is not satisfied the male is more laid back and often puts the investigation as a closed one.
The Killing has one main narrative with some sub narratives thrown in to give it more story however the main and sub narratives are stretched over by five acts the first is getting the case about the main narrative. Next is finding evidence about the murderer giving them clues to follow to catch the killer third is a pinnacle plot point in which they think the case is solved until new evidence has come to light which then tips the plot to a new direction which then shows a new act where they are finally close to solving the case and then finally the final act is the final crusade in which the characters go forth and catch the murderer or killer and put him away. However in some series this killer can and case can be stretched out over the course of two or three seasons or even giving the audience once plot point for one season and then another next season. This show is heavily set on evidence as this is one of the key features of the show allowing the story to go in multiple directions and giving the show more characters and more twists and turns.
The show is shot in a handy cam motion what this means is that the show is shot like the cops are being followed around by a camera crew in some aspect it is shot up close and personal meaning when moments of intense drama are show on screen the cops are followed when things get intense. Furthermore in shots when fighting is shown there are close ups of the struggle with shots of the faces of fighters being hit repeatedly. However there are not many reverse shots in this program rather shots of both characters communicating to one another in the same occupied space. On the other hand in some scenes there are shots reserve shots in conversation if the scene is filmed in side the prison due to the area that is being filmed.
The lighting in this show is quite dark in all areas even in some daylight scenes the light is quite gloomy this is to create atmosphere in the story and to created suspense in the shots it helps drive the drama with the use of dark colours and moody lighting. It helps push the genre of this show very well as it is sticking to its roots of being a dark crime drama. Finally non-digetic sounds are used in this show to created much suspense for example in many scenes dark slow music is played to keep the atmosphere going between some character and when the pace of the drama changes the tempo of the music picks up. However in some aspects there is no non digetic sounds just the sound of the characters talking and that is also no background static or background noises the use of having no non digetic sound helps create a suspenseful environment as the conversations between characters keeper you hooked to the scenes as you are waiting for the next bit of drama to begin it helps keeps viewers interested with the use of no non digerati sound and only strictly digetic sound.

Drama Analysis
In this blog post i will be looking at a specific drama and analyse how the drama is structured through three dynamic parts.
First i will look at characters analysis in this episode of eastenders we many different scenes where we see multiple characters of the cast confronting one another from what i have seen in this and many other episodes it is the difference between the genders by this i mean that men are seen as weak and brainless often making a fool of themselves or stumbling words seen as the lesser of the genders as we see in one see a discouraged character is drunk and stumbles hurtful remarks to hurt another character however the female reacts and leaves as they lead the scene with there emotion and you feel more for her being a young adult.
Women in dramas are the ones in control of all situations often withholding information from the public but being able to use the information at there gain for the correct time often more women are seen battling for that information by confronting one another and are seen as the character we love to hate in one scene one character is upset about a man but another female wanting to take control will often ignore them or change the subject discoursing another female making her snap and therefore feeding information to another character. In this particular episode they touch on sensitive areas such as same sex relationships putting some complex issues in and putting the plot in the hands of two female characters driving the scene but she needs to make choice either staying happy or thinking of her family putting her in the eye of society and choosing which path to follow.
A drama is open narrative meaning that it is spoon fed to the audience in many sequences through out the course of the plots initial run over time the plot will become more focused upon and have sub narratives around the main narrative in this case the narrative of a two women with families choosing to come together as a gay couple and who it will effect around them whilst also showing other families struggling with other issues that could be reproached at a later date of the plots run once this main plot point is finished.
Going back to the characters most dramas are built on a community of diverse characters mainly showcasing multiple families in a relatable area of the world that we in-vision as a normal society with regular areas that people in the world as most likely to converse and relate to one another in this case we see this in social areas like bars, pubs, cafes and homes these are to simulate as much realism as possible so we can relate to these characters. This is seen throughout the whole episode where the shots are filmed in multiple houses and areas of the community,
Finally the technical elements of the show include two key things lighting and timing as we see in this episode a lot of the areas that are filmed are dark and hardly lit this is to signify tension in the scene with shots focusing mainly on the confrontation between characters it mainly focuses on the emotion on the characters face with close ups and mid shots with the use of shot reverse shot when both characters confronting one another on a specific debate they have mixes between shots reverse shots and also over the shoulder shots to get the point of view of a characters view to drive the narrative of the plot. Back to timing when a scenes come to a close it then switches to another home leaving the previous scene but then switches between multiple areas of the community. Only digetic sound used the only non-digetic sound is the final scene where the outro comes into the works.

Sitcom Analysis
Inbetweeners-The Fashion Show
In this blog post i will be looking at a specific sitcom and analyse how the sitcom is structured through three dynamic parts.
The first being character analysis in the group of the four main characters there are Neil,Simon,Will and Jay they all play a specific role in the formal that is the Inbettweeners. Jay often plays the immature liar of the group who is regarded as to annoying one of the butch who lies about his exploits but is often called out by the other three next is his side kick Neil who is quite slow and looks like the younger brother of the lot with his lack of inelegance and ability to follow Jay no matter what lie he exclaims.
Will is the more mature of the group as he likes to control everything that is going on but often gets rejected by his friends and then is bullied and pushed by the other three to do things he finds immature. However he often puts his foot down to make his point known all though this fail he plays a more failed parent character like a mum or dad who is not listened to but is also the one the group look to for advice that they don't follow. Simon is Will best friend and often plays another mature role but is often mislead as he is in love with a girl and seeks advice from the other three although he is often looked at as the more easy going parent of the group as he lets the boys do what they want like an easy going mother.
All this is seen in this episode as Will disapproves of fashion shows as he sees them to unfair where as Jay is more interested as being part of the show but often lies about past tense stories that the group see through. Neil is simple and desire to see women and Simon is offered a place as a model which causes disagreement with Jay and Will but for different reasons Wills being that its unfair and Jays being that he isn't in the show.
As we see in this episode the narrative is an close narrative starting with the fundraiser Fashion show for an ill schoolmate that the group do not approve off. This goes further when will is forced to take money for the show shattering his morals and making him feel unapapracteried. Meanwhile Simon has a role as a model for the show which displeases Jay causing much disagreement between the two friends this is act one of the story as this is the situation that the boys have been put into.
Act 2 coming to a close ensues the help of Will to perform in the fashion show all for the means to hook up with a girl this angers the ill boy who finds Will horrible for finding the show unfair this then causes the ill boy to retaliate by calling him a hypocrite. However will does not care as he wants to be with his crush. Meanwhile Simon is offered a chance to prove his self to his crush by wearing an obscene outfit this causes him to get nervous and then furthermore causes him to have a wardrobe malfunction exposing part of his gentile region. After this performance both of the boys are shot down by there crushes will being rejected by his crush and Simons crush being upset and embarrassed by the incident. This gets Simon in trouble later on.
After the events the boys meet up and are reunited and have all had a bad night but yet they are back in there own little world only to once again await what will happen next time the show is over and the narrative is closed with all the boys once again not in a good situation.
The sitcom is shot on multiple cameras in a closed set inside a six form college shot from internal locations they are often set in the same areas either inside the college itself the characters home or in there local area. However in some of the episodes they are shot on separate locations to give more story. Furthermore there are multiple shots in Simons or Jays car with camera mounts attached on the car. This could be actual live footage or studio made green screen footage.
There are multiple shots from wide shots to get all the group into the shot but depending on the circumstance there is often shots reserve shots, close ups or over the shoulder shots and finally the lighting is often due to the time of day depending on if they group are outside or have light in from the windows. But some shots have lighting provided in some of the dark rooms. The conversation often leads the way the edit is made it cuts from person to person. The sound is often diegetic to do with the setting however multiple voice overs from Will as narrator and indie music to set the mood in scene are used as well these are refereed to as non-diegetic sounds.
